COPA 149 Fuel Kiosk Mounting and Renovation Project
2021-04 COPA 149 Fuel Kiosk Mounting and Renovation Project
In 2021 the Niagara Central Dorothy Rungeling Airport commission decided to install a 24/7 Cardlock fuelling system at the airport. A derelict kiosk was obtained and moved near the fuel pumps. After some wiring difficulties, the kiosk was declared operational. However, it soon became apparent that the high winds often experienced at the airport threatened to blow the kiosk over. COPA 149 volunteers along with airport maintenance personnel installed anti-hurricane weights to temporarily hold the kiosk in place and arranged for a concrete pad to be poured within a couple of days. COPA 149 volunteers along with airport maintenance personnel moved the kiosk onto the pad and securely bolted it down. Some of the paint on the kiosk was in shabby condition. COPA 149 volunteers repainted the rusting metal and installed signage and safety markings to guide visiting pilots looking for fuel.
